Tour description

Venter ski circuit, Ötztaler Haute Route or simply Ötztal ski crossing - there is a hopeless confusion of terms, and yet all terms basically refer to the same thing: the connection of some of the most beautiful and highest Tyrolean peaks and partly further, partly steep glaciers to one of the most famous and demanding multi-day events -Ski tour of the Eastern Alps, which can easily compete with the classics of the Western Alps.

+ 600 Hm

Day 2: Similaun, 3606m - Hauslabjoch, 3279m - Bella Vista Hut, 2842m

A long day lies ahead. After a good night's sleep, we walk along the snow-covered Niederjochbach in the direction of Similaun. Arrived here at the foot of the west flank, we set up our ski depot and climb the last few meters on foot to the summit. Descent to the Similaun hut, 3019m and another ascent to the Hauslabjoch, where we pass the "Ötzi discovery site" before we reach the yoke. At the Hochjochferner we climb the last stretch back up to the hut.
+ 1650 m - 1100 m

Day 3: Hintereisjoch, 3460m - Weißkugel, 3739m

From the hut, which is part of the "Schnalstal" ski area, you climb up to the "Hinteres Eis" for a short distance, partly over the slopes. Here we have to find the right entrance to get to the Hintereisferner. In a fantastic glacier environment we climb over the Hintereisjoch, 3460m and the southern ridge of the Weißkugel to the 3739m high summit. Long descent to the hut.
+ 1200 m - 700 m

4th day: Flugkogel, 3500m - Vernagt Hütte, 2755m

The way to the Kesselwandferner is technically not very easy at first and is also steep in places. The reward for the effort awaits at the top of the Kesselwandferner, because here the whole wintry mountain world opens up to ski mountaineers. The Flugkogel, 3500m, is then the icing on the cake. Nice descent to the Vernagt hut.
+ 1100 m - 800 m

Day 5: Wildspitze, 3770m - Vent, 1896m

Over the Vernagt glacier to the Brochkogeljoch, 3423 m, and over the Taschachferner to the highest peak in Tyrol. The sea of summits of the Ötztal lies below us. Descent over the Mitterkarferner and past the Breslauer Hütte, on the ski slope to Vent we let our beautiful round tour slide. Farewell after the tour.
+ 1000 m - 1900 m
