The ignorant often say that the Stüdlgrat is a via ferrata. I can't quite agree with that! But it is true that two short passages are secured with a via ferrata rope. That doesn't make the beautiful climb a via ferrata, so taking a via ferrata set with you doesn't really help you much. The tour is varied and demanding.

Day 1.: Ascent to the Südlhütte, 2802m 

Meeting point and welcome at the Stüdlhütte by 6.45 p.m. at the latest. You will get the missing equipment from me at the hut. Dinner and tour briefing.

Day 2: Stüdlgrat - Großglockner, 3798m

Early departure from the hut. The first meters of altitude are still done with a headlamp, but soon it gets lighter and we switch to crampons. Before we reach the start of the ridge, we first cross the crevassed Teischnitzkees. The so-called "Petersstiege" is the first hurdle, but once it's done, it's a beautiful, enjoyable climb along the ridge. Descent via the normal route, past the Adlersruhe, where we can stop for a bite to eat and further down to the Stüdlhütte.
