Tour description

This waterfall is one of the best and certainly the highest ice formations in Salzburg and in all of Austria. It basically offers compact water ice. Since the waterfall has a height of approx. 300 m, it should not be underestimated !!!! It is advisable to leave early and to take a headlamp with you. The difficulties only begin in the middle, after which the ice armor lays back a little.

Requirement

  • You have already completed many vertical meters in the steep ice and are ready to go further.

  • Basic knowledge of climbing and safety techniques in ice climbing

  • One of our basic courses would be beneficial

  • You are motivated and get along well with slightly colder temperatures.

  • Good condition and sufficient strength for a long day of climbing.

  • Practice days in the ice

1 day.:Meeting point and greeting in the early morning in the Gastein valley. From the meeting point we drive together to Böckstein where we park our car. From the parking lot we hike a good hour to the start of our planned tour.

Description.:

The first rope lengths are still moderately steep for climbing in. But then after the third length, the waterfall really stands up and becomes vertical. We climb over compact water ice and in spectacular surroundings to the exit. Depending on the snow and avalanche situation, we can descend on foot or abseil down the waterfall.

    No additional additional costs, unless you stay overnight in the valley.

  • Travel insurance: This must be taken out by the participant independently before the start of the event. Insurance can be taken out with the respective alpine clubs.
