Tour description

The Großvenediger, the “world-old majesty”, is the heavily glaciated main summit of the Venediger group in the Hohe Tauern on the border between East Tyrol and Salzburg. With a height of 3660m it is the fourth highest mountain in Austria. We will reach the summit from the northwest via the scenic Obersulzbachtal with an overnight stay at the Kürsingerhütte.

Requirement

​

  • You have already gained your first ski touring experience and are in good physical shape

  • Driving curves in a parallel ski position in deep snow in all types of snow and in steep terrain

  • Basic knowledge of LVS customers

1 day.: Meeting point and welcome at the "Hopfelboden" car park in Obersulzbachtal, Pinzgau. We meet in the morning to get to the hut safely. We enjoy the afternoon together and use the time to plan a tour together.

2 day.:Early departure from the hut. If the night was clear, it may be necessary for us to start from the hut with the crampons. After the short ascent from the hut, you first go down to the large glacier basin. We climb higher via the large "Obersulzbachkees" and reach the "Venedigerscharte". Now only the beautiful summit flank separates us from the 3,666m high summit of the Großvenediger.
